Careers in CET

CET graduates work in land surveying offices, highway departments, government engineering offices, railroads, utilities, general construction contracting firms, material supply organizations, and engineering consulting firms. You may work in estimating, drafting, structural detailing, construction expediting, sales, and surveying.

Graduates with experience have become construction supervisors, chief drafting personnel, chiefs of survey parties, contractors, project superintendents, designers, and estimators.

The Associate of Science (A.S.) program helps you prepare for a bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering Technology (CNET).

Student Organizations

There is an active chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers at IPFW.

Dr. Elizabeth Thompson advises IPFW's student chapter of SWE: The Society of Women Engineers.

Scholarships

The ETCS Scholarships are open to all full-time or part-time majors in the College. You must have a GPA of at least 3.0, and incoming freshmen are eligible. The size and number of these scholarships vary from year to year. The deadline is March 1.

The Professor Lloyd W. Smith Scholarship is open to part-time or full-time students working on a degree in ARET, CET, or CNET who show merit and/or promise in that area.

The American Society of Professional Estimators Scholarship is open to students majoring in ARET, CET, or CNET.

The Northeast Indiana Engineer's Society $1000 Scholarships are open to sophomores and juniors in a curriculum leading to a B.S. in Engineering Technology or Engineering. The student must have graduated from a northeast Indiana high school.

Accreditation

The CET A.S. Program is accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (TAC/ABET). Periodically, auditors evaluate program objectives and program outcomes.
