Department of Manufacturing & Construction Engineering Technology and Interior Design (MCET)

Mission
The mission of MCET is to support the career aspirations of undergraduate and graduate students, and to fulfill the needs of their current and future employers. The Department offers, develops, and continuously improves educational programs to meet these needs. The programs are accessible to traditional and nontraditional students, and support evolving career objectives by emphasizing lifelong learning.

Comparisons between Engineering Technology disciplines and Engineering
Engineering Technology courses use algebra to teach practical engineering concepts. Core Engineering Technology courses begin in the first semester. Hands-on laboratory instruction is a large part of the curriculum.
Engineering courses use calculus, and focus more on design and engineering theory. The first two years concentrate on basic math, science, and electives; most of the core Engineering courses are taken in the third and fourth year.
